Fox Chase Cancer Center’s clinicians are highly trained and experienced in treating all stages of kidney cancer. Our multidisciplinary kidney cancer team works together to provide some of the latest treatments and technology available for kidney cancer today, including:

• Surgery: Our surgeons have vast expertise with kidney cancer surgery and are experts in partial nephrectomy, a procedure that involves the removal of a kidney tumor while preserving as much healthy kidney tissue as possible. This helps maintain kidney function and decreases the risk of kidney failure and dialysis later on. Most kidney surgeries at Fox Chase are also performed using minimally invasive robotic techniques, which allow for less blood loss, smaller incisions, and quicker recovery than traditional open surgical techniques.
• Ablation: Our physicians are skilled in using both radiofrequency ablation and renal cryotherapy to either heat or freeze tumor tissue, destroying cancer cells in the process.
• Systemic Therapy Medical oncologists at Fox Chase develop a comprehensive, patient-centered and team-based plan for each individual. In addition to offering patients the latest standard-of-care systemic therapies for advanced kidney cancer (including targeted therapy and immunotherapy options), Fox Chase is also actively developing and evaluating a number of new therapies, often before they are available anywhere else.
